- ★ ★ ★ ★ ★Over the past several years, going to Middle Mountain Mead has become a Hornby Island tradition. I discovered this gem of a place after taking a trip to Hornby with a friend, and on a day too rainy to hit the beach we drove up to Middle Mountain. The meadery is located on a beautiful property, and the tasting room deck overlooks rolling hills and the lush gardens where many of the botanicals featured in their various meads are grown. Tastings are offered by the owners, both of whom are friendly and very interesting to speak with. You will get to sample something like eight different kinds of mead, all of which have creative flavour profiles, and the owners will walk you through how each kind is made. We usually end up leaving with 2-3 bottles to bring home with us! Overall, a beautiful place to visit and a Hornby Island must-see!By Chantal Chateauneuf, December 22, 2016
